Remember that work-study students will be paid $7.25 an hour.  When students are out for holiday (i.e. Spring Break, Fall Break), students cannot work.  All contracts will go through the last day of the Spring 2014 semester.  No work-study will be allowed during the months of June and July.

You must submit a timesheet the last working day of each month to Crystal Ryerson at the North Campus or Sherry Hodgson at the South Campus, and they must be signed by your supervisor and cannot show more than 15 hours worked per week.

New regulations (Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012) effective July 1, 2012 limits the receipt of a Pell Grant to a lifetime limit of up to 6 full-time years (600%) which is  equal to 12 full‐time semesters. This law has significantly impacted the Pell Grant Program. This change affects all  students regardless of when or where they received their first Pell Grant. The U.S. Department of Education will track the limits for student’s eligibility.

The 600% total eligibility applies at all schools and colleges. However, once a student has earned a Bachelors Degree, he/she is no longer eligible for
a Pell Grant even if he/she has not received the entire 600% eligibility. In addition, a student must also meet and maintain satisfactory academic
progress standards to remain eligible each year.

If a student has exceeded the 12‐semester/600% maximum, he/she will be ineligible for any  additional Pell Grant and other federal and state funds.
There is NO grandfather clause nor an appeal process for LEU based on Federal Regulations. This regulation is in effect even if student has had an appeal approved for failure to meet satisfactory academic progress in past semesters, it supersedes any prior offer of aid/award, and there is NO appeal or exception.

Recipients are selected by the SECU Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.  Students who wish to apply for the SECU scholarship may begin doing so immediately. Application deadline is Friday, June 28, 2013.

SECU Application 2013-2014

Students may order books online now through April 30th and have the option to have them shipped for a charge or pick up in store.  All online orders must include at least one text book. Students that pre-order books online may pick them up  beginning May 7th.

No computer purchases available using summer financial aid through the bookstore.

Bookstore hours for Summer Semester are Monday thru Thursday 8:30-7:00pm and Fridays 8:30am -1:00pm. 

Students should expect to receive financial aid disbursements the week of February 25th.  This includes Federal Pell grants, State grants, Loans and Scholarship refunds. If you are registered for a minimester class that begins March 13th, the refund for your class will be disbursed once classes have started and attendance verified.

Please make sure you have activated your account with Higher One and selected your preferred method of disbursement in order to  receive your refund.

Only those students who have registered during early registration may begin charging on this date. If you register during late registration you will need to wait 2-3 business days to begin charging books and supplies.

• If you enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours) fall 2011/spring 2012, you are not eligible to receive summer Pell.
• If you enrolled less than full-time fall 2011 and/or spring 2012, you may be eligible to receive summer Pell.
• Example:
• Fall Semester – 6 Credit Hours – $1388
• Spring Semester – 9 Credit Hours – $2082
• Total – $3470
• ($5550 minus $3470 equals $2082 remaining eligibility)

• Enrolled in a Pell eligible program.
• Meet all SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) requirements.

Remember, loans are not the same thing as grants and must be paid back. Federal Direct Stafford Student Loans payments typically begin six months after the point that you are no longer enrolled or drop below six credit hours. Federal Direct Stafford Student Loans are subject to the same rules and regulations as Federal Pell Grants and other federal aid. Loans are to be used for expenses associated with your education. Using loan money to purchase a car, pay legal expenses, make investments, consolidate consumer debts, or pay other non-educational related debts violates federal law and could result in the loss of your borrowing privileges at the college.
