He has made a significant, positive impact on not only his club M.I.S.T.E.R., but upon our college as whole.
The Outstanding Community Service award is given to an individual who has performed exemplary community service, made significant contributions to enhance the quality of life in the community and demonstrated an understanding of responsibility to his or her community through involvement with campus clubs and activities.

As with most community activists, this student is generous with his time and talents. He has made a significant, positive impact on not only his club M.I.S.T.E.R. (Men Inspiring Success Through Education and Role-modeling), but upon our college as whole.

This year alone, this student has donated over 600 hours to habitat for humanity in both Rowan and Cabarrus Counties. While serving his campus and community as a student leader, this construction management technology student has maintained a 3.4 GPA. From a club advisor’s perspective, this student has demonstrated maturity and leadership and has become a respected member that others look up to and seek out for advice and guidance.

He has been described by faculty as a gentleman, a dedicated student and a valued member of the community. This student was nominated by advisors Gary Bigelow, Kao Vang and Travis Long. This year’s recipient of the Outstanding Community Service Award is Courtney Jones.
