Before Testing
You must complete an application for admission prior to testing. Placement testing is generally required of all students entering a curriculum program at RCCC. The tests access your skills in the fundamentals of reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills. Your scores are used to place you appropriately into courses that will enable you to succeed. You will be required to present a picture ID at your test session.
Scheduling Your Placement Tests
You will need to schedule yourself for both of the following exams
- COMPASS: This is our primary assessment of English grammar, reading comprehension, and mathematics skills–the building blocks of education. It is a computerized program and is untimed.
- CSI: The Computer Skills Inventory provides assessment of basic computer skills. The CSI is required for entry into an internet-based course and CIS 110.
Retesting Possibilities
Retesting can only occur at designated retest sessions. Please contact Student Services for available dates, guidelines and fees. A fee of $5 per retest session will be charged. This fee must be paid through the RCCC Business Office prior to the retest session.
