Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF)
(Formerly CARES Act Funds)

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has received funding from the US Department of Education (HEERF I, II and III) to provide emergency financial aid grants to eligible students and for institutional costs to defray expenses associated with COVID-19. Student Aid may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to the coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care.

The US Department of Education received HEERF funds via the following:

  • Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act – HEERF I
  • Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) – HEERF II
  • American Rescue Plan (ARP) – HEERF III

An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

i. On April 13, 2020, the College signed and submitted the Certification and Agreement that assures the institution intends to use no less than 50% ($1,422,753) of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

b. Date institution received allocation (i.e., GAN dates): 4/24/2020

i. On April 24, 2020, the College received its allocation under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

2. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
