Course Description: The core of what it means to be a law enforcement professional is dependent upon having a solid core of ethical behavior; both personally and professionally. The class will focus on how vital the traits of integrity and character are to the law enforcement profession. Students will discuss the negative consequences of un-professional conduct; the cost of compromise; and why some officers believe they are “above the law.” At the end of this block of instruction, students will understand how to address suspected misconduct and how to promote positive ethical behavior within the organization. Although not a pre-requisite for the Internal Affairs class, they are designed to be companion courses.
