Behavior Based Interviewing is a 16-hour course designed to aid organizations in the development and review of their hiring and interviewing process. The class is broken down into two 8-hour sessions.
Day 1 addresses The Hiring Process with focus on:
- Types of Interviews: 1-1 or Panel: Which is Best?
- Updating Job Descriptions to reflect today’s needs (if needed)
- Identifying Key Job Skills and Knowledge for Job Vacancy
- Identifying Key Behaviors for Job Vacancy
- Understanding the Laws EEOC, ADA, etc.
- Lawful or Unlawful Questions. What can you legally ask?
- Developing Behavior-Based Interview Questions
- Preparing for the Interview: Steps to Take
- Lawful or Unlawful Questions. What can you legally ask?
Day 2 will involve Skill Practicing: How to Conduct a Legal Interview; with specific focus on:
- Conducting the Interview: First Steps
- Creating the Climate/Establishing Rapport
- Making the Decision/Comparing Candidates
- Post-Interview Follow-Up/Informing Non-selected candidates
- Checking References/Understanding Limitations/Contacting New Hires
- The Importance of New Employee Orientation/On-Boarding
- Discussing Probationary Status and What it Means
- The New Hires First Day, First Week and First Month
