This two day course is designed to introduce law enforcement investigators to the basic concepts of fire science and the field of arson investigation. This course will impart basic principles allowing the law enforcement investigator to respond to a fire scene which may include a body or to become a member of an arson task force, and have an understanding of what they see and hear at the scene of a fire. The student will be able to recognize some basic burn patterns, interpret what it may mean, and assess what appears normal or abnormal about the progression of a fire. The student will learn about additional resources available to assist in a fire investigation as well as printed resource material for possible future review.
