STEM Open House
April 3 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College invites the community to an evening of excitement and exploration during its upcoming STEM Open House on Thursday, April 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. Join in a celebration showcasing the College’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs at its facilities located at the North Carolina Research Campus. Now in its 12th year, the STEM Open House is part of the North Carolina Science Festival, a statewide celebration that brings science and technology to life through hands-on learning experiences.
Beginning at 5 p.m., both Rowan-Cabarrus buildings on the NCRC campus will be filled with exciting STEM activities where attendees can take part in hands-on experiments, interact with faculty and explore potential career pathways. Live demonstrations will feature experiments exploring endothermic and exothermic reactions, the oxidation of gummy worms, an elephant toothpaste race, and strawberry DNA extraction, along with an interactive lesson on how infectious illnesses spread. Guests can also visit a genetic testing station to discover whether they carry a specific gene in their DNA.
A food truck will be on-site during the event, offering a selection of food and refreshments for attendees to enjoy.
While Thursday’s event is free and open to the public, Rowan-Cabarrus will also host area high school students on Friday, April 4, for a special guided STEM experience. Students will be given a deeper look into STEM education and career opportunities through structured tours and hands-on demonstrations.
The STEM Open House is free and open to all ages. We invite the community to join us for an evening of exploration, discovery and fun while learning more about the exciting world of STEM.
