Costume Contest for Kids 12 & Under
Get ready to show off your amazing costumes at Fall Fest Live during our Children’s Costume Contest for ages 12 and under. With three fun age groups—Ages 0-4, Ages 5-8, and Ages 9-12—we can’t wait to see your spooky, silly or super costumes! Come dressed to impress, and don’t forget to head to the contest area by 6 p.m. for your chance to win a prize!
General Guidelines for All Participants:
- Ensure costumes allow for free movement and do not obstruct the child’s vision or breathing. Avoid long capes, loose fabric, or other elements that could cause tripping or tangling.
- Use non-toxic, child-safe face paint if desired; masks should have proper ventilation and visibility.
- Costumes should be family-friendly and suitable for children. Avoid overly scary, violent, or inappropriate themes. No weapons or sharp objects (even if they’re part of the costume) are allowed. Props should be soft and safe.
- Homemade and DIY costumes will be appreciated and celebrated, but store-bought costumes are also welcome.
- Judging will focus on creativity, effort, and originality rather than expensive or professional costumes.
- Parents of younger children (Ages 0-4) may accompany their child on stage if necessary. For older brackets (Ages 5-12), encourage independence, but adult help with crafting is welcome.
- Costumes must cover all appropriate areas. No revealing clothing or costumes that promote inappropriate imagery or language.
- All participants must reporting to the designated area by 6 p.m. Late entries may not be considered. Ensure the costume is ready for judging by the designated time, including all props and accessories.
Judging Criteria:
- Originality: How unique and creative is the costume?
- Effort: How much time and energy went into creating the costume?
- Presentation: How well does the child present their costume on stage?
- Age Appropriateness: Is the costume suitable for the age group?
- Attention to Detail: How well are the small details and finishing touches executed?
