This course is designed to prepare students to maximize their score on the TEAS entrance test. The test is multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators deem most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants. Composite scores, as well as several sub-scores, are computed in each of the four content areas to assess specific content comprehension.
Students in the course will take a baseline practice TEAS assessment to identify areas of weakness and remediate on them from a TEAS study guide In addition basic learning strategies will be covered in class including test taking skills, study skills and basic preparation for nursing courses. Experienced nursing instructors will teach the course. Students will be required to purchase the TEAS practice test, TEAS study guide and Learning Strategies Workbook.
