New Beginnings for Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College High School

Along with cooler temperatures, Fall Semester 2011 arrives with many exciting new changes for the Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College High School. This year we accepted an additional 63 students, which brings our total student body to over 150 students.

All early college students received brand new netbooks provided by the district school system this year.
All early college students received brand new netbooks provided by the district school system. Along with each netbook, students also received new backpacks to carry the netbook as well as textbooks.  As we enter into our third year, our junior class is engaged in a full college load for the first time. They will enter into classes such as HIS 111, World Civilization I, SPA 111, Elementary Spanish, ENG 112, Argument Based Research and various math classes like MAT 080, Intermediate Algebra to MAT 175, Precalculus. Although these new responsibilities will require our students to work extra hard, we are confident in their ability to meet the challenges that lie ahead and succeed.

Last year we lost two great staff members, and we will miss them greatly. However, for our new school year, we have gained four new, valuable members of the staff and look forward to working with them. We are glad to welcome to our team: Dustin Shoe, Dean of Students, Michelle Brilliant, Chemistry Teacher, Leslie Dianetti, Guidance Counselor, and Louise Bush, English Teacher.

With our highly competent staff and faculty, bright students and new technology, wonderful things are taking place at Cabarrus Kannapolis Early College High School. We anticipate a semester filled with learning and fun.
