Course Description: Combined with the principles addressed in the Course on Recruitment, Selection, and Hiring this course will focus in on the specifics of the background investigation as required by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission for law enforcement applicants.  Students will learn how to conduct background related interviews utilizing questions which elicit accurate information regarding persons applying for law enforcement positions, and apply the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) to the background investigation.  An emphasis will be placed on utilizing appropriate sources of information, the collection of documentation, and the verification of applicant supplied data.
