Course Description: Concepts of Effective Leadership are applicable to all emergency services; including detention, correctional officers, and fire personnel.. Students will discuss motivational principles of effective leaders, to include, but not limited to: delegation vs. micromanagement; how to effectively measure performance; supervising Millennial employees; effective leadership styles; setting performance standards to promote professional excellence; confronting the non-performing employee; dealing with employee attitudes; discipline and termination; decision making and problem solving; effective policies to guide supervisors, what to do when you suspect employee misconduct; and evaluation and documentation.
