Course Description: An examination of ethical, character-driven law enforcement agencies with a focus on agency culture, core-ideology, decision-making, and agency alignment.
Objectives:

  1. State what is meant by the description of an agency as being an ethical, character-driven law enforcement organization.
  2. Define agency culture.
  3. Describe the role of the agency head in managing the culture of an agency.
  4. Describe the three (3) components of an agency’s core ideology.
  5. Discuss the impact of the agency’s core ideology on decision-making within the agency.
  6. Discuss the power of vision, mission, and core values on the overall effectiveness of the agency.
  7. Explain the ten (10) step process for clarifying, communicating, and implementing an agency mission and core values.
  8. Explain the meaning of agency alignment.
  9. Describe the steps involved in ensuring alignment within the agency.
  10. Discuss the benefits of an ethical, character-driven approach on the agency, its personnel, and the community.
