Course Description: An examination of ethical, character-driven law enforcement agencies with a focus on agency culture, core-ideology, decision-making, and agency alignment.
Objectives:
- State what is meant by the description of an agency as being an ethical, character-driven law enforcement organization.
- Define agency culture.
- Describe the role of the agency head in managing the culture of an agency.
- Describe the three (3) components of an agency’s core ideology.
- Discuss the impact of the agency’s core ideology on decision-making within the agency.
- Discuss the power of vision, mission, and core values on the overall effectiveness of the agency.
- Explain the ten (10) step process for clarifying, communicating, and implementing an agency mission and core values.
- Explain the meaning of agency alignment.
- Describe the steps involved in ensuring alignment within the agency.
- Discuss the benefits of an ethical, character-driven approach on the agency, its personnel, and the community.
