Course Description: 21st Century law enforcement is a profession with a growing body of knowledge.  Policing methods have evolved and new evidence-based strategies are published daily.  In this course we will discuss Intelligence Led Policing, Smart Policing and Focused Deterrence as methods of preventing and controlling crime.  We will describe how these methods can be applied in a multi-dimensional, partnership based, strategy that identifies and targets criminal behavior.  Learn how data can be used to narrowly define a problem to be solved and match it to an evidence-based strategy.  Adaptive rather than technical solutions result in lower violent crime, increased community trust, fewer citizen complaints, fewer arrests, and reduced recidivism.  Hear how this approach lowered violent crime in High Point, North Carolina by 67% when applied to gun violence, gang violence, drug markets and domestic violence.

Students may register for classes by emailing their requests to Chuck Adams.
