SUMMARY:Field Training Officer
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: This course is intended to ease an officer’s transition from the academic setting to the performance of general law enforcement or detention duties. Although an officer graduating from the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) or Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC) has received a thorough introduction to basic law enforcement and/or detention subjects\, that officer cannot be expected to immediately function as an experienced officer. SUMMARY:Threat Assessment for Schools
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: This course examines those individuals who communicate threats or other “unusual” communications to others\, specifically in the school environment. This includes the identification of the offender\, motivation\, evidence of mental illness\, and threat management. This course emphasizes distinguishing between those who make threats and those who pose threats. This course includes specific case studies such as stalking/threatening political and media persons\, mentally ill threateners and anti-government “true believers.” What causes a\, “normal” teen to become a mass murder? Can they be predicted and prevented? This course examines\, the various theories of the cause of school shooters\, warning signs\, assessment and intervention techniques. SUMMARY:Advanced Tactical Ballistic Shield
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: Advanced Ballistic Shield Operator – This course builds on the basic operator’s class and is designed to assist the operator in handling the ballistic shield in different situations. The operator will be able to shoot from behind the shield aggressively. Conduct a reload with and without the gas mask. The operator will also unload\, shoot on the move\, conduct down officer rescues\, and operate the shield during dynamic/static room clears. The operator will conduct entries and dry and live-fire exercises in 2-man and 3-man evolutions\, with and without gas masks. There will be additional drills to help each operator become acclimated to the shield in various ways.
