SUMMARY:Advanced K-9 Explosives Detection Operations & Threat Assessment Training
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: The Advanced K-9 Explosives Detection Operations and Threat Assessment course is designed for both experienced and emerging professional explosives detection canine handlers and supervisors seeking to enhance operational readiness\, detection proficiency\, and team effectiveness in complex real-world environments. This intensive training program builds upon foundational explosives detection principles and focuses on advanced search strategies\, odor recognition theory\, operational deployment\, and leadership considerations for explosives detection canine teams. Participants will engage in classroom instruction and practical exercises covering advanced explosive threat recognition\, search planning and management\, vehicle and building searches\, mass transit environments\, large-area and open-area searches\, high-risk event security operations\, and emerging threats. Emphasis is placed on handler decision-making\, canine behavior analysis\, operational safety\, legal considerations\, documentation\, and performance evaluation. Supervisors will gain additional insight into program management\, training records\, team readiness assessments\, risk management\, and the effective deployment of explosives detection canine resources during critical incidents and special events. DESCRIPTION:Course Description: Tactical Mindset is an intense course that will challenge the officers. This course is designed for patrolmen\, detectives\, school resource officers\, and SWAT operators. Officers will be challenged through lectures\, discussions\, and video footage of fellow officers involved in a shooting. This will be a classroom\, and class participation will be requested. This course will explore officers’ mental and physical health. A tactical mindset will assist the officers in preparation for that deadly encounter. It is also designed to open the mindset to understanding the obstacles that will be encountered after the shooting. This course will provide ideas and things that need to be in place and already shared with loved ones in the officer’s life when the day comes. This course will also assist the officers in preparing to support their fellow officers and their families after a deadly encounter or a use-of-deadly-force encounter. The course will allow officers to face reality and challenge themselves mentally and physically. SUMMARY:Interview and Interrogation for Patrol
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: This introductory class is designed for patrol officers or community corrections officers who routinely interview suspects\, victims\, and witnesses during an initial investigation. In an interview\, as a communication event\, the interviewer has a number of established goals: gather data or information from the interviewee; determine whether the interviewee is truthful and\, if not\, identify the form of the deception; transition the interviewee from unwilling to willing. Toward this end\, the interviewer must be able to question. A question is an activating event. If the questioning strategy employed is not productive\, the interviewer must use additional approaches until the most appropriate strategy for the interviewee is found. Once the interviewee begins to talk\, the interviewer must be able to detect deception. The form of the deception and its specific elements must be identified. The interviewer must have more than a “feeling” that the interviewee is not truthful.
