During his career, he has earned two lifesaving awards, as well as traffic enforcement and investigation certifications from the N.C. Justice Academy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrowing up, I always respected and admired law enforcement officers. As a kid, I did not know everything that law enforcement entailed, but I knew I wanted to become a part of it. I have always enjoyed helping people, whether it is helping someone change a flat tire or helping a friend build a deck. This profession allows me to help not just one person, but an entire community. The best part of my job is that I can have a positive impact on someone\u2019s life. As a field training officer, I enjoy training and mentoring new officers and seeing them succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When he is not working, Benfield spends as much time as possible with his wife, Melissa, and their 7-year-old twins.
