Suicide is the eleventh leading cause of death in the United States, killing approximately 38,000 people each year, compared to the 18,000 who are murdered. A suicide may be influenced by psychological, biological, or social factors, as well as a combination of any of the three. Proving a suicide can be a difficult task due to family denials, insurance concerns, and a lack of adequate investigation.
