Step Into Culture is a curriculum-driven community outreach event. This project is a collaboration of Rowan-Cabarrus’ Departments of Fine Arts and English. Classes will be relocated to the Clearwater Artist Studios in downtown Concord on Friday, April 4, 2014. The event will begin with lunch and introductions at 12 p.m. Cultural programming will start at 1 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. During this time, College produced events will include:

Poetry Slams by creative writing students, music performances by students, tours of the Clearwater Artist Studios led by Art faculty and the student Impulse Art Exhibition displayed in the Clearwater Gallery.

The reception for the Impulse Art Exhibition will begin at 6 p.m. as part of the Cabarrus Arts Council’s Art Walk (6-8 p.m.) All events will be free and open to the public. The College is working closely with the Cabarrus Arts Council, the City of Concord and the Clearwater Artists to ensure the event is well publicized. Rowan-Cabarrus’ graphics designer will assist in developing marketing materials to be distributed online and in print. Funds will be used for gallery rental, sound system rental, marketing, public reception, exhibition judge and awards.
