The Interlibrary Loan lending policy applies to all materials loaned to other institutions through the OCLC consortia program<\/p>\n
Types of Requests Accepted<\/h3>\n
Rowan-Cabarrus accepts electronic<\/span> OCLC Institutional requests via the World Share system. We do not accept telephone requests.<\/p>\n
We prefer electronic requests via the World Share system, but will accept requests using an\u00a0ALA form\u00a0<\/a>emailed\u00a0to\u00a0library@rccc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Loan Period<\/h3>\n
Rowan-Cabarrus\u00a0will lend books to other libraries for\u00a0four weeks.<\/p>\n
Fees<\/h3>\n
There is no charge for lending.<\/p>\n
Renewals<\/h3>\n
The borrowing Library may request renewals by contacting our Interlibrary Loan Department via the World Share system, email, or phone. Renewals are granted on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n
Materials Available for Loan<\/h3>\n
- \n
- Rowan-Cabarrus\u00a0will lend books and audio-visual material from the general collection and photocopies of articles from\u00a0a periodical’s current issue.<\/li>\n
- Rowan-Cabarrus\u00a0will provide photocopies from material in our collection for borrowing libraries,\u00a0provided it does not violate any copyright restrictions.<\/li>\n
- Rowan-Cabarrus does not lend reference material and other non-circulating items; material in poor condition; material that receives heavy in-house use; periodicals, course-related textbooks, lease books and books published in the last year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
International Requests<\/h3>\n
Rowan-Cabarrus does not accept requests outside the United States.<\/p>\n
Delivery Methods<\/h3>\n
Rowan-Cabarrus College will deliver materials via USPS, North Carolina State Courier, WorldShare Document Delivery or email.<\/span><\/p>\n
Turnaround Time<\/h3>\n
Our average turnaround time is 24 to 48 hours. We make every possible effort to process all requests promptly.<\/p>\n
Borrower Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
Per OCLC guidelines, the borrowing Library is responsible for the item from when it leaves the Library until it’s been returned and checked back in, including loss and damage. We make every effort to package our items securely and send them by a fast, reliable method.<\/p>\n
Damaged, Overdue and Lost items<\/h3>\n
We charge repair costs for items that cannot be repaired in-house. The amount is determined on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n
Items at “Returned” status in OCLC will be given at least one month to appear before we issue an invoice for lost items.<\/p>\n
Our item replacement fee is a minimum of $75. Before sending an invoice, we will contact the borrower to see if exceptional circumstances exist.<\/p>\n
We do not charge overdue fees to the borrowing Library. <\/p>\n
