R3 Center Announces July 2013 Workshops

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The R3 Center is offering numerous career development workshops and resume clinics in July for adults in Rowan and Cabarrus counties. All of the programs are provided free-of-charge.

July marks 10 years since the closing of Pillowtex and a new era for careers in our area. Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s R3 Career Center was established based on lessons learned beginning in 2003 on how to serve individuals in career transition. Today, 10 years later, Rowan-Cabarrus, our community and our futures have evolved. Join us in celebrating the heritage that brought us to the pathway of the future.

July is also the month to share your career heritage. Do you have a hard working family member in your employment family tree you would like to recognize? Do you have an interesting career story to tell? Share your story with us.

Stories can be submitted by visiting the R3 Career Center in Kannapolis (200 West Avenue, 704-216-7201) or at www.rccc.edu/r3/heritage/.

Then, stop in and visit with us on “Career Heritage Day” at the Rowan-Cabarrus building on the North Carolina Research Campus (399 Biotechnology Lane, Kannapolis). The college will open its doors from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30 to showcase shared career heritage stories. The community is welcome to attend and meet R3 career coaches, learn about free GED opportunities, take a guided tour of the building and more!

Also, each Wednesday in July, the R3 Center will have “R3 Clinics” available at the NC Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions/JobLink Career Centers in both Rowan and Cabarrus counties. The clinics will feature New Client Launch Appointments, Resume Screening, Career Coaching and R3 Workshops. Clients wanting to attend an R3 Clinic are asked to call 704-216-3664 to schedule an appointment. The Workshop schedule for July will be:
