Application for Degree, Diploma, or Certificate
Students should apply for graduation after enrolling in courses for the semester of their expected graduation. It is recommended that students consult their advisor and the program outline in their specific catalog year. Students are responsible for ensuring that they have met all program and course requirements to earn the degree, diploma, or certificate for which they are applying.
Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Requirements
Students who successfully complete the Arts and Sciences program will earn the Associate in Arts degree (AA), Associate in Science degree (AS), or Associate in Fine Arts degree (AFA). The Associate in Applied Science degree is awarded to students who successfully complete a two-year Applied Science programs. Diplomas and certificates are available in many of the Associate in Applied Science programs.
For most programs, a student is scholastically eligible for graduation when he/she has satisfied the specific requirements of the college and the program for which he/she is enrolled, completed a minimum of 25% of required hours at Rowan-Cabarrus, and has earned a program grade point average of at least 2.0. Students accepted into programs with competitive entrance requirements may have to meet other graduation criteria.
Students continuously enrolled may graduate using the catalog under which initially enrolled or the current catalog. As outlined in Maintaining an Active Program. A student that fails to register for any fall semester will be required to reapply to the college and to meet graduation requirements under the new catalog.
Graduation exercises to award degrees, diplomas, and certificates are held at the end of the Spring Semester. The specific date of graduation is listed in the academic calendar.
