Application for Degree, Diploma, or Certificate
Students should apply for graduation after enrolling in courses for the semester of their expected graduation. It is recommended that students consult their advisor and the program outline in their specific catalog year. Students are responsible for ensuring that they have met all program and course requirements to earn the degree, diploma, or certificate for which they are applying.
Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Requirements
Students who successfully complete a two-year technical education program will earn the Associate in Applied Science degree. Students who complete the Arts and Sciences program will earn the Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), or Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degree. The diploma is awarded to students who satisfactorily complete a one-year vocational program or the general education core for the AA, AS, or AFA programs. Students who satisfactorily complete programs of study less than a year in length are awarded a Certificate. A student is scholastically eligible for graduation when he/she has satisfied the specific requirements of the college and the program for which he/she is enrolled, completed a minimum of 25% of required hours in residence at Rowan-Cabarrus, and has earned a program grade point average of at least 2.0. Students continuously enrolled may graduate using the catalog under which initially enrolled or the current catalog. As outlined in “Maintaining an Active Program” (link to the page created above), a student that fails to register for any fall semester will be required to reapply to the college and to meet graduation requirements under the new catalog.
Graduation exercises to award degrees, diplomas, and certificates are held at the end of the Spring Semester. The specific date of graduation is listed in the academic calendar. Graduation rate information for Rowan-Cabarrus.
