Unfinished Business

CBTC Artwork: Ad-Hoc committee:

  • The committee will meet three times total; will consist of a chair (who must be a CBTC student), co-chair, and four members. This committee meets the requirements of a college committee for clubs working towards the Tier 1 of the travel grant. Without further objection the CBTC Ad-hoc committee will stand. There was no objection. Motion passes.

Open Position: Nicolann Miller for Parliamentarian

  • SGA President, Tereysha Robles, introduced Nicolann Miller as a candidate for Parliamentarian. Nicolann made a short speech and then left the meeting room in order to allow the meeting participants to vote.
  • Results of voting-22 votes in favor, 0 vote against, and 2 abstentions.  Congratulations to Nicolann Miller on becoming Parliamentarian.

New Business

Connect NC Bond: “Without objection, I Tereysha Robles, move that the Student Government Association support the Connect NC Bond by providing education and promotional materials asking students and community members to vote YES. The purchase of the materials should not exceed $3,500. There was discussion which included questions. The chair asked for any objections. None were noted. Motion passed.

Announcements:

Relay for Life: Cabarrus County Krispy Kreme Sale will be on March 1 on north campus and March 2 on south campus.

 

Club Reports:

AHR Chillers

Senator and advisors attended the January SGA Business meeting in the CBTC Distance Learning Center on Tuesday, 12 January. Chillers Club Executive Committee met on Wednesday, 13 January for their monthly meeting to review upcoming items and set schedule for student meetings. Four Chillers Club students, lead advisor, and assistant advisor participated in the Martin Luther King Breakfast celebration at CBTC lottery event held on Thursday, 14 January. Chiller Club students, 11 total, participated in the Acts of Kindness lottery event at Cosmetology on Wednesday, 28 January. Most have submitted their e-forms already. It was a great time and we were received very well and gave the Cosmetology students some good practice on men’s haircuts (6), manicures (10), facials (3), and back facials (1). It was interesting. Chillers Club student meetings were held during the week of 25 January through 31 January. Students voted on various items such as fundraising ideas and both community and campus service projects to do in February.

Automotive/Skills USA

No Club Report.

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College)

 On Jan 14 we worked the MLK Breakfast. Also, we did the Random Acts of Kindness. Planned Generation Z days (8, 9, and 11 of Feb). Here we have people talking about new Student Body Vice President.

Cosmetology

Can food drive and Panthers outfits for the West Ave. Campus. Campaigning for Cosmetology club President and Vice President. Election will be next week.

Dental Assisting

We have finished selling coupon books for a club fundraiser. At our last meeting, we discussed other possible fundraiser opportunities.

Health and Fitness Club

No Club Report.

L.I.F.T.

Greetings we at LIFT thank God. We were able to have our first meeting January 21st on Thursday. We had worship and prayer and were able to plan for Random Acts of Kindness. We plan on having Bible Study Thursday the 4 of February (12-1pm South Campus). Lord willing we plan on having our next meeting February 8 Tuesday. We are deciding on partnering with PBL on an event. Thank you so much. May the grace of Jesus Christ be with you!!

M.I.S.T.E.R.

M.I.S.T.E.R club will be hosting a battle of the sexes game in February and will be giving out kisses (candy) for Valentine’s. MISTER club meets 2 times a month, second and fourth Wednesday on North Campus and first and third Thursday on South Campus (Building 1000/Room 2019) MISTER club will be doing Health Awareness workshop in February.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)

PBL is trying to team up with LIFT to ensure manpower for our Spring Gospel Concert. We have an advertisement flyer ready to be posted for all 5 campuses. We also have our Spring Yard Sale Fundraiser in the making. We will hold it on RCCC North Campus for students, faculty, and staff. The charge will be $5 per spot to help PBL raise funds for upcoming State Competitions. Community service ideas were brought up; however we are still trying to find a way to implement this with PBL. Donations that were collected through the fall community service project awaits date and time for drop-off to the Pregnancy Crisis Center. The next meeting is scheduled for February 11, 2016 where all plans for Gospel Concert will be set.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

Our officers met and finished the writing portion of our college project and HIA. It has been submitted! Yay! We are still planning our book wrapping and reading to first graders with the Book Drive. We are encouraging members to participate in this action portion of our HIA. We are also planning our travel to S.C for an awareness banquet and our trip to D.C. We are working hard to promote participation in our goal of 40 members and recruiting officers for next term.

Prism

Despite inactivity, which is a natural because this is PRISM RCCC’s first year as an official club , once we start having our first meetings to discuss what steps to take to get in the right direction I am confident that this year will be kind to us. Through hard work, determination, and a little faith we will make PRISM RCCC one of the best clubs on both North and South campuses. Peace and love.

Racing Club

We will be determining meeting dates as well as project dates to work on our electric drag car. We will also be holding an election for a senator by the end of the month. Our club will be looking for new members to fill out our roster and discuss opportunities for our involvement on campus and in the community.

Radiography

During the month of January the Rad Club performed Random Acts of Kindness on North Campus. We also completed the requirements for our travel grant and will be using the grant to attend a radiography conference at the end of January.

Rowan County Early College (RCEC)

The Early College SGA participated in the “Everyone Matters Constitution Day”, Global Distinction program passport event and submitted Student Health Articles for the month of October. Our next event is the Spencer-Salisbury parade in the month of November. We are currently planning a school dance that will be held on November 6. In addition, we are in the process of ordering school spirit gear as well as senior t-shirts and SGA t-shirts.

Rotaract

No Club Report

Student Nursing Association (SNA)

I, Matt Biles, was present at the SGA meeting. Heard new business and voted on issues. The SNA has no new business to report.     

Welding

Next meeting should be February 8 or February 9 around noon. Working on fulfilling needed officer positions. Will start planning fundraisers for SKILLS USA competition and other possible events that may come up this spring. Blood drive February 10, 2016. Unsure what to do for fundraising. We are open to fundraising ideas.

Veterans Club

Presently, we are planning a movie and dinner outing to see “13 Hours”. Our next group meeting is planned for February 12, 2016. In March, we will be planning a project for April. This is our community project.
