Relay for Life Rowan County May 6th ,2017

  •  Xavier Evans, SGA Vice President Move to continue the Relay for Life Fundraiser by selling donuts with a maximum goal of $750 Dollars. Seconded by Romelo House, SGA Public Information Officer. Motion Passed

Phillip M. Leonard, from Automotive Skills U.S.A, moved that SGA find out any information on why the drink machines have been removed from the downstairs Auto, Welding, and machinery labs. Mark Wetherby seconded the motion. Motion Passed

Club Reports:

AHR Chiller- 1) Senator attended the November SGA Business Meeting on Tuesday, November 1st, along with both Club Advisors. 2) Chillers Club Executive Committee met on Tuesday, 1 November for their monthly meeting which addressed lottery events, student meetings, fundraisers, and additional upcoming events significant to AHR Program and ASHRAE Student Chapter.3) Chillers Club student meetings were held during the week of November 8 through November 15. Students voted and approved, via simple majority vote, to spend up to $300 to conduct a Spring Smoker cookout for the program and CBTC. Students also voted to spend up to $70 for the upcoming Branches of Hope Tree to provide gifts for one boy and one girl.
4)November events Chillers students participated in: A.) All Fall Lottery events have been completed. B.) Five students attended the monthly ASHRAE training luncheon held in Charlotte at Byron’s South End on Thursday, November 3rd, along with both advisors, AHR chair and faculty. C.) Club sponsored the CBTC, “Coffee with a Cop” event on Wednesday, 16 November, 10am-12noon. There were 64 students from Cabarrus Early College of Technology that attended the event along with approximately 50 CBTC RCCC students, faculty and staff in attendance also. D.) Club sponsored the CBTC RCCC ASHRAE chapter meeting held on Wednesday night, 16 November. Guest lecturer was Allison Dennis, from SPORLAN. E.) Club sponsored the Cabarrus Early College of Technology tours of CBTC on Friday, 18 November from 9:30am -12noon. Club provided soft serve ice cream for the visitors. F.) Club were hosts for the 12th Annual AHR Program Thanksgiving Celebration event at CBTC on Monday, 21 November.5) Encouraged student participation and volunteering and making suggestions. Emphasized participation in NavSync.

Automotive/Skills USA – We had a Car Show December 5, 2016. Also we are having a potluck dinner for the Skills Club. Started planning for a Car Show in the Spring. We nominated people for the state seats, and handed out application for the act of joining at state level.

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College) – The club is currently waiting for approval to host a Valentine’s dance as a fundraiser for Victory Junction. This week’s meeting will be a holiday party for the closing of the semester. Update: The Cabarrus Kannapolis Early College placed seconded in the Student Hunger drive and received a 1,000-dollar reward.

Cosmetology – Absent-No Report

Criminal Justices- In November 2016 the Criminal Justice Association worked three events and held a monthly business meeting. November 15th- four CJA members worked the coffee with a Cop event on South Campus. November 18th – Monthly business meeting from 12:30-1:30. Members voted to fill vice-president position at December business meeting due to the current Vice President graduating this semester. Also, we voted to move forward with ordering club tee-shirts. November 22nd – Six CJA members worked the Coffee with a Cop event on North Campus. November 23rd- three CJA members walked in Salisbury/Spencer Parade.

Dental Assisting – At the last meeting we discussed doing a Zumba-thon in the next few months here at the North Campus. With us being in the Health field we want to promote a healthy lifestyle along with already representing oral hygiene. We also brought back up the Muffin Mondays or Wednesday to give a pick up to the students.

Education Club- We held our second meeting on November 16, 2016. We discussed on and off Campus Club Service project. We voted on and formed committees for both projects. Announced lottery events and asked for Volunteers. We discussed and voted on next semester’s meeting dates and locations. Dates and locations as follows: January 18th on North Campus building 600 room 224 at 6pm. March 15th on South Campus building 3000 room 3217 at 6:30pm.

L.I.F.T. – Absent- No Report

M.I.S.T.E.R. – M.I.S.T.E.R volunteers every other Thursday at Winecoff elementary school mentoring 5th grade males. M.I.S.T.E.R club will be assisting the Habitat for Humanities during Christmas break.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) – PBL officers, attended PBL conference in Greensboro, North Carolina. On December 2nd- PBL Vice President Daphne Moore did her Human Trafficking Presentation sponsored by PBL.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)- Our next meeting will be December 12, 2016. Cat and Dog food donations are accepted in Room 201 building 300 on North Campus.

Prism- Absent-No Report

Radiography – We had a Club meeting on November 29, 2016 and December 2, 2016 from 2:30-3pm we discussed past events and future events. November 10- Service project- sorted and packaged food items. November 21- Delivered backpacks, fed, spent time with homeless veterans at Rowan Helping Ministries. December 1- Completed four articles for Student Health 101 Club earned 80 dollars. December 11th & 12th – MLK day of Service Event (Lottery). December 11th – I will begin travel grant forms.

Rotaract – Absent- No Report

Student Nursing Association (SNA) – In our November meeting we discussed the following old business: Results for a private fundraiser for the club & Club member dues need to be paid if not already done (will remind again at December meeting). November meeting: (new business)- private fundraisers for the club for November and December, going to either the national or state SNA conference as a group, we discussed the eight hours of Campus volunteer work that we have to complete and events that we can do that will count towards the eight hours, and our Thanksgiving dinner for all of the Nursing Program. In our November meeting we voted to table the following new business until the December meeting: Ideas of a December private Fundraiser, Agenda for the SNA conferences will be released so we will examine and vote between the national or state conferences to attend and I will clarify if the eight-hour event for campus has to be specifically for campus or if it just needs to take place on campus. We agreed to have our December 8,2016 at 12:30PM in the Freshman ADN classroom. It will be slated from 12:30 – 1PM.

Veterans Club – No Report

Welding – We had our annual Holiday dinner Tuesday November 22nd. We discussed MAWS topics that were coming up early next Spring and made plans for this coming Spring Semester.

W.O.W – We had our campus event on November 30th which was the Hot Chocolate Bar. It was a success! We signed in a total of 80 students that stopped by for hot chocolate. Next, we are having a women’s empowerment speaker on December 9th for all female students that need encouragement. This will be our last meeting for the semester. Our November meeting was on the 2nd.
