CBTC Art Adhoc Committee

I, Charles White, from the  Student Government Association make a motion that the  SGA purchase student artwork not to exceed $450 dollars. Seconded by Liana Walker, Student Government.

Club Reports:

AHR Chiller- 1) Senator attended the March SGA Business meeting on Tuesday, March 14 along with both the advisors. 2) Senators and Club President attended NC Legislature Day in Raleigh NC on Wednesday 29 March. 3) Chillers Club Executive Committee met on Wednesday, 15 March 2017 for our monthly meeting which addressed lottery events, student meeting, possible fundraisers, and additional upcoming events significant to SGA, AHR Program and ASHRAE Student Chapter. 4) Chillers club student meetings were held during the week of Monday, 20 March through Saturday, 25 March 2017. Students voted and approved, via simple majority vote, to spend 300 dollars to purchase 10 cases of World’s Finest Chocolate Bars from the Automotive SkillsUSA Club for a fundraiser to be held in April 1-30. The bars sell for $1 each so the club would gross $600 for a net profit of $300.

Automotive/Skills USA – Car Show April 3, 2017 voted on the car show it was approved for April 8. At 10 am

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College) – We recently attended a state conference for the North Carolina Association of Student Council (NCASC) in Raleigh, NC. There we met with other student councils and voted for the State Executive Board. While there, we created bonds with other council members from schools and our district. We are continuing in our planning of our annual luau. We have just elected our officers for the 20172018 school year including the executive members.

Cosmetology – Cosmetology did their first Student Life event on March 7, 2017 assisting with stop hunger now. In addition, we planned and attended the ACS hair competition in Myrtle Beach; SC. Cosmetology is also planning to have a graduate appreciation brunch on April 26 to congratulate all the graduates on their accomplishments. In the March meeting, we discussed our cruise on April 8 as well as our next event on April 19, which is the blood drive as well as assigning tour guides for stem.

Criminal Justice Association- The Criminal Justice Association elected not to hold a business meeting in March. We are going to hold two in April due to having multiple major events through the month.

Education Club- We were approved for Spring Fling. We had a Spring Fling planning meeting. We applied for money to fund the supplies needed for the table from club funds. Our final club meeting will be held in May.

M.I.S.T.E.R. – M.I.S.T.E.R will be attending Spring Fling this Saturday. We will also be traveling to Washington DC in April for college tour and information session at Howard University and attended a Male leadership.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) – PBL has been preparing for the state leadership conference held in Charlotte, NC April 6- 9th. There are six students entered across five events. We have been practicing and we are ready to go!

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) – Attend an Award ceremony on March 11 in Raleigh, NC. We received three awards and we elected new officers for the coming year on March 23, 2017. Our next meeting will be April 11, 2017.

Radiography – March 21: Club meeting, March 30-31: NCSRT Seminars. Will be doing: VRST seminar, Spring Fling, Kettering seminar, and blood drive

RCEC (Rowan Cabarrus Early College) – RCEC is currently in the midst of Spirit week leading up to field day on Friday April 7. Field Day will consist of activities such as tug a war, Potato sack race, and three-legged race. There will also be free time available for students. The three winning teams for pasta for pennies will be taken to Olive Garden on April 28, 2017 to celebrate their donations to leukemia and lymphoma society.

Veterans Club – Active members of the veterans club have gathered information on the Student Veterans Association (SVA). Our next meeting we will vote on if we should join or not. The veterans club has decided not to apply for a travel grant and use club funds for our group team building exercise.

Welding – Last month the members of the club assisted at China Grove Middle to introduce young students to alternatives in the Work Force. We will also be participating Thursday and Friday April 6-7th in the Stem event.

W.O.W – Meeting held on March 22, 2017. Members voted on changing our committee event to do a fundraiser for “flash drives for freedom.” The vote passed 5-0 and we discussed about planning our trip for W.O.W. Also talked about attending the SGA banquet. Next meeting is scheduled for April 5 at 12pm.
