A Simple Guide to Street Drugs for Law Enforcement

Course Description: The instructor for this class, Ann Hamlin, is currently serving as the Forensic Scientist Manager of the Drug Chemistry Section at the NCSBI laboratory in Raleigh.  This class will discuss the categories of street drugs and the individual drugs that fall into each category. How each drug affects a person will be reviewed as well as how each drug can be represented out in the field, whether it be the type of packaging or whether it is contained in paraphernalia. The class will review how drug evidence should be submitted to the Crime Laboratory and what you can expect from the analysis at the laboratory. Current new drug trends and which new drugs will be emerging on the scene in the future will be discussed.
