Every day across the United States, criminal investigations continue to slow or even stop completely due to manpower shortages and funding thus enabling cases to go “cold”. Homicide and sexual assault units are continually backlogged with active cases and do not have the support units dedicated to investigating and analyzing these “cold” cases. Consequently, cold cases rarely get the attention they deserve. Attention continues to be focused on these cases due to the popularity of television dramas and the increased public visibility of family members
