Leadership Enrichment and Development (Leadership Program Class)

- Total Hours: 40 hoursCourse Description: The purpose of this course is to educate and inspire both nascent and veteran law enforcement officers to become well-rounded and successful police leaders. It is not designed to teach conventional management skills, but rather to challenge participants to contextually explore both their personal and professional motivations, needs, values, and goals. The course is intended to provoke critical self-examination and a deeper appreciation of essential leadership principles. The instructional design includes Socratic teaching methods, guided group discussions, and collaborative class assignments. Extensive use is made of supportive audio-visual illustrations drawn from a broad spectrum of the arts, sciences, and relevant contemporary events. The goal of this course is to provide participants with the requisite tools to enrich their leadership experience, and achieve true success and fulfillment as police leaders. Upon completion, participants should be able to demonstrate an understanding of salient leadership issues and apply this knowledge in the daily conduct of their professional careers.
