Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation

The Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP) is designed for students who want to transfer to a four-year college or university to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education in a STEM-related field. Students seeking to earn the ASTP may wish to become K-12 teachers specializing in areas focused on science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics.

Students earning the ASTP at Rowan-Cabarrus will complete 45 hours of general education coursework in, humanities and fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, English, mathematics and natural science. In addition, students will complete four education courses that have been developed to help students obtain an understanding of the K-12 classroom experience, as well as preparation for the Praxis teacher certification exam.
