Club Reports

Academic Senator (Liberal Arts) – Now as Senator, I plan to speak with students as often as possible to let them know what events are happening on campus. I will make posters to get the students interested by talking to them and explaining what SGA is about and how to get involved with school events.

AHR Chillers – Our club senator, Hunter Buckwell, and lead advisor Jon Crockett attended the October SGA meeting. On October 3, the executive committee met and held student meetings after fall break. We attended the “Meet the Candidates” event on South Campus, and the club lottery on North Campus. In our last meeting, we voted on spending $500 for food and supplies needed to host the 14th Annual AHR Program Thanksgiving Celebration Meals on November 19. These items will be purchased by the lead advisor as well as one or more of the executive committee members, and we will make arrangements with Shemeda Conyer for these purchases.

Art Club – In our last meeting, our club officer positions were voted on and filled. We also discussed and planned on potential service projects, a meeting, and an art critique session planned for November 9, 2018.

Cab Tech (Cab Tech Early College)- The Cab Tech SGA continue to plan events for the upcoming semester. The homecoming dance was beautiful and enjoyed by our student body. Preparations for the Luau have continued to ensure its success. The joint hurricane drive has been extended and will now end on the 16th of November in order to obtain more supplies. These supplies continue to support another Early College.

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College) – On October 20th we had our homecoming dance. On October 25th we planned and executed our “Souperbowl” fundraiser and raised over $200. On November 2nd we had our orientation meeting and created council tie-dye t-shirts. The week of October 22nd we executed spirit week and rewarded those who participated with candy.

Cosmetology –No Report

L.I.F.T. – This past month, L.I.F.T. Club has planned the dates for our next two meetings and planned out what these meetings will entail. Unfortunately, we have missed the deadline for the Club Charter form, so these meetings must be pushed back until the form is processed. Today, the club will be reaching out to its advisers to begin completing the form and getting it back on track for a successful rest of the semester and year.

M.I.S.T.E.R. – The M.I.S.T.E.R. club volunteers as mentors at Price Head Start, and Isenberg Elementary during lunch time for the buddy program. M.I.S.T.E.R. will be hosting a workshop about interview techniques, resume writing dress attire and communication skills. Also, M.I.S.T.E.R. will be attending a male empowerment event at Catawba College on November 29, 2018 at 6 pm.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) – We had a meeting at North Campus on November 2, 2018. Where we approved the October meeting minutes and had covered old business of the funds that had been to State and National PBL. These funds were discussed and voted on during the October meeting. We discussed new business of the memory tree campus service project that starts this month and the need for volunteers for water the plants etc. We also discussed the upcoming event that we will have a table set up for at the Veteran’s Day and Favorite Things giveaway events. Our next meeting will be on December 6th at North Campus, and December 7th at South Campus from 12 pm-1 pm.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) – We held an induction ceremony on November 5th, 2018 on the NCRC campus. We have welcomed 11 new inductees into PTK. We have officially kicked off our PTK Resource Animal Needs Drive from November 6th to November 18th. Locations to donate on North campus are in the 400 and 600 buildings, Student Center, and at the Navigation Station. Locations to donate on South campus are the Student Center, and at the Navigation Station. All donations will go to the Cabarrus County Humane Society due to them being in need after receiving animals from areas affected by recent hurricanes. All donations will be collected by the next club meeting on November 26, 2018.

P.R.I.S.M. – In our last meeting a motion was passed to provide pizza from CiCi’s Pizza at club meetings and is not to exceed $150. Another motion was passed to fund 4 children for the Branches of Hope and is not to exceed $150. A third motion was passed to give, and not exceed, $90 in order to get supplies for our January event with the Humane Society. A fourth motion was passed to buy door prizes, and gist cards from Walmart for club meetings and is not to exceed $140.

Radiography – The Radiography Club held a club meeting on October 16th, 2018 regarding finalizing our Breast Cancer Awareness event. We confirmed duties of members and confirmed the date and time of the event. On October 26, 2018 we held our Breast Cancer Awareness event on both North and South campus from 8 am-1 pm in the Student Center. We provided useful information while having prizes, games, and free food. In November, we will be having a Veteran’s dinner at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury.

RCEC – No report (Absent)

Skills USA – The Skills USA competition will be held in the spring. Also, Skills USA will be doing a car check as a campus service project.

Student Nursing Association (SNA) – We have completed our community service project where we were taking donations for Daymark. After receiving the donations, we packed the items and delivered them to the facility. We also voted on our campus service project to work the S.O.A.R. Program students. We will be decorating Christmas ornaments and holding a seminar for hand hygiene for the S.O.A.R students on November 26.

Tri Beta (Biology Club) – We’ve elected our officers, turned in our constitution for review. We voted on our community service, club activity, and our campus service project. We plan to attend the club lottery meeting.

Veterans Club – No Report (Absent)

W.O.W. – We had a meeting on October 26, 2018 where we discussed what we wanted to do for our campus service project. We voted to serve donuts and hot chocolate for students when we come back from Thanksgiving break on November 26, 2018. We also discussed our community service project. We have not decided on that, but we are working on it. Ann Boucicaut was voted in as our new secretary.
