Associate in Arts

The Associate in Arts (A.A.) is a two-year degree with an emphasis on courses such as English, fine arts, foreign languages, history, philosophy, psychology, or sociology. The A.A. degree provides students with a general liberal arts education that prepares them to transfer to a university to earn a Bachelor of Arts (or Bachelor of Science, depending upon the university) degree.

An A.A. degree will provide you the opportunity to explore various disciplines and career fields. If you’re not quite sure which major or career you want to pursue, an associate degree will allow you to explore your options and make up your mind without incurring the cost of a full bachelor’s program.

The credits earned in an A.A. program at a community college are typically far less expensive than the same credits earned at a four-year higher education institution.

Earning an A.A. degree cuts two years from earning a bachelor’s degree!

An associate degree will provide you the opportunity to explore various disciplines and career fields.

Students will gain useful skills and knowledge that are directly applicable in any workplace such as critical thinking, problem solving and communication.

My aunt attended here and told me about the wonderful opportunities available at RCCC. My favorite part of attending was feeling like I was a part of a family. UNCC is my next stop and I’m glad I prepared myself here first, now I’m ready.

The Associate in Arts program is the most diverse program at RCCC because it leads to most majors at the university level. Not only will you be able to receive a wide-ranging education with dedicated, caring faculty, you will be challenged to think critically and creatively. You will be challenged but the reward is well worth it!
