About General Education & Transfer

Welcome to the General Education & Transfer Department at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College! This department can help you complete a two-year degree or get some of your general education classes out of the way before heading to a four-year institution to complete your educational journey.

Rowan-Cabarrus’ transfer programs are excellent stepping-stones to a four-year degree. The College offers transfer programs, or associate degrees, in the following: Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation (A.A), Associate in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education B-K Licensure Associate (A.A.S.), Associate in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education Non-Licensure Associate (A.A.S.), Associate in Engineering, Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts (A.F.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.) and Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (A.S.).

Students who complete a transfer degree may earn up to 60 semester hours to transfer to a University of North Carolina System institution. Students may also earn credit hours to transfer to private colleges and universities. For a smooth transfer, students should coordinate with their chosen college or university to determine which courses they should complete and then meet with their Rowan-Cabarrus program chair or advisor for further assistance.

The Department also offers additional programs of study (degrees, diplomas and/or certificates) designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment in their chosen professions. These programs include Advertising and Graphic Design, BioTechnology, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education Residency Licensure, and Infant/Toddler Care.

The General Education & Transfer Department is thrilled you chose Rowan-Cabarrus. If we can be of assistance to you, please contact us:
