February 20, 2023: Call for Artists: “Lim|nal: The Space Between”

The Department of Art & Design is pleased to share a call for artists at The Galleries in The Historic Courthouse in Downtown Concord, also known as Cabarrus Arts Council. The show is called “LIM|NAL: The Space Between” and will run from May 18 – July 22, 2023.

Cabarrus County residents and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Students (regardless of county, but students must note they are Rowan-Cabarrus Community College students) are invited to submit art for the theme of “LIM|NAL.”

The word liminal describes a “threshold”, a space between what was and what will be, the now resting between the past and future. As Historic Downtown Concord undergoes an unprecedented amount of construction, it finds itself between the Concord that once was and the Concord yet to be. It is the intention of “LIMINAL” to celebrate the expressions of our community and culture that are here NOW, in this space between.

All genres of all different sizes, mediums, expressions (including 2D, 3D, music, DJ, spoken word or any stage performance) are welcome to be submitted to the show. The deadline for submissions is February 24, 2023.
