A “hot wash” is the disciplined, time‑bound debrief immediately following an investigative interview – where strengths, gaps and next‑step improvements are captured while the conversation is still fresh.
This course equips interviewers, team leads and quality‑assurance reviewers with the frameworks, analytical tools and facilitation skills to run rigorous post‑interview hot washes that measurably improve future interviewing performance and case outcomes.

Objectives:

At the end of the exploration participants will have addressed:

  1. The purpose, timing, and psychology of a hot wash in investigative contexts.
  2. Apply a structured five‑step debrief model to an interview scenario.
  3. The importance of key behavioral, linguistic and environmental cues in real‑world interview recordings that signal missed opportunities or emerging risks.
  4. Concise, action‑oriented hot‑wash reports that align with organizational policy.
  5. Constructive group debriefs that balance candor, learning and interviewer morale.
  6. The integration of hot‑wash findings into continuous improvement loops (training calendars, coaching sessions, SOP updates).
