“Opportunity” is the linchpin of the Fraud Triangle – the moment when control gaps, weak governance, or unchecked authority allow a would‑be fraudster to act. This 24‑hour exploration introduces investigators, auditors, compliance professionals, and HR interviewers to (1) recognize and document opportunity indicators and (2) adapt their interview strategy to exploit those cues, elicit high‑value disclosures, and secure reliable admissions. Participants will move from theory to applied skill by analyzing real‑world case files, crafting tailored interview plans, and running live simulations with professional role players.
Objectives:
1. Opportunity Risks – Identify structural, procedural, and cultural conditions that create opportunity for fraud within an organization.
2. Link Opportunity to Behavioral Cues – Translate control weaknesses into predictable rationalizations, concealment tactics, and verbal/non‑verbal signals during interviews.
3. Design Targeted Interview Plans – Build question funnels that surface opportunity‑specific information, validate control failures, and confront deceptive narratives.
4. Document & Report Findings – Produce clear, legally defensible interview notes and an investigative memorandum that ties opportunity indicators to fraudulent acts (or clears the subject).
