Relay for Life Fundraiser

  •  I, Xavier Evans, SGA Vice President Motion that Student Government Association donate $500 dollars to Relay for Life. Seconded by Larry Newcomb. Motion passed.

Club Reports:

AHR Chiller- 1) Club meetings conducted 15-22 February 2017 Skills USA. 2) Club members voted to allocate funds for skills USA registration for state competition, plumbing, sheet metal, HVAC, Major appliance, electrician and construction management. 3) Community Service project- cleaned and serviced HVAC unites at two churches: Bethel Wesleyan church and one other 25 February 2017. 4) Chillers club executive committee met on 15 February 2017.

Automotive/Skills USA – The last few meeting we have been going over ideas for the next year and going over information for the upcoming Car Show during Spring Fling. We finished our Candy bar fundraiser, we are still selling T-shirts, and hats have been added to the order form.

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College) – This weekend 12 club members will be attending the state district conference in Raleigh at Leesville Road High School. We will start working on the annual lunch that we hosted on this week.

Cosmetology – In our January meeting, we voted in new officers with a vacancy still in place for the secretary. We are discussing travel plans for a competition in April. We are also reviewing community service options.

Criminal Justice Association- On February 22, 2017: The Criminal Justice Association had five students to volunteer to help sell doughnuts on North Campus from 8:00-9:30. This was for Relay for Life. On February 24, 2017, The Criminal Justice Association held our monthly business meeting. We discussed upcoming events such as STEM on April /7 and had a Criminal justice fair, undetermined!

Dental Assisting – We voted not to go to Atlanta, but go to Myrtle Beach, SC on May 19-20th. Also, voted to use club funds for pinning ceremony.
Education Club- We are waiting on approval for a spring fling table to complete our on campus service goal. We completed both our lottery events in February. The VP is still doing the duties of Secretary. We are currently holding a poll on Navsync for our next meeting date.

L.I.F.T. –Lift recently had a welcome to lift event meeting. We will have another meeting this Friday to discuss volunteer events.

M.I.S.T.E.R. – M.I.S.T.E.R meetings on North Campus are now on Friday’s, this will be posted on NavSync. M.I.S.T.E.R will be also doing a campus service project-giving faculty and staff cards made by students thanking them for their service. During spring break, we will be volunteering at the Habitat House in Rowan County.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) – All members are currently preparing for the State Conference that will be held in April.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) – Absent- No Report

Prism- Absent-No Report

Radiography – 01/12/17 voted to use Travel grants funds for VSRT, UCSRT seminars. 01/31/17 voted to use club funds to pay deposit Kettering seminar for 1,275 dollars. 02/21/2017- Senior club members discussed pinning ceremony. Lottery events: MLK Day of service Rowan County (01/11/2017; MLK Day of service Cabarrus County. Future Lottery events: (04/08/2017) Spring Fling (04/19/2017) Blood Drive South Campus

RCEC – The RCEC SGA club is preparing for our Under the Sea spring formal on March 17 for all RCEC students. Also with the dance, there will be a spirit week the following week. There is also going to be a Field Day to close at spirit week on March 24 for all RCEC students. Pasta for pennies was a success raising over for Leukemia and Lymphoma society.

Rotaract – We had our meeting before Spring Break, and our next meeting in on 23rd of March. We are scheduled to go to the nursing home on the last week of March. At the nursing home, we decided that we are going to throw a party for the seniors. If we have time, we will also play Bingo.

Student Nursing Association (SNA) – No report

Veterans Club – Our next meeting will be on Wednesday February 8 where we discussed our campus service project for this semester. We will have another meeting on 03/15/2017 to discuss and draft our proposals for our service project as well as discuss our plan of action for our travel grant approval.
Welding – In our club meeting, we discussed different scholarships that are offered through AWS. We talked about skills USA and AWS competitions coming up. We also are planning for club t-shirts for all Welding Club members. We also set up for volunteers to help for the Valentine’s Day event and clean up.

W.O.W –The alternative spring break was successful for all campuses. However, W.O.W only had two members present for the campus beautification event.
