Art Work Initiative
I, Kayona Obregon, from Student Government make a motion that Student Government sets aside a monetary amount for SGA to purchase student art work for RCCC campus. This amount will be a line item in the SGA yearly budget. (Motion passed)

Club Reports:

AHR Chillers – No report

Art Club – Art Club has been running a recruitment campaign with posters around art areas in North and South campus. We are looking for new members and officers to fill in, as many officers are graduating this semester. If we can get enough members, we would like to do a juried student show in the 400 building on North. The Library has also offered us a wall space. Every Friday, officers are in open studio in the 700 building. We assist students with anything they need, show documentaries about contemporary art, teach each other practical skills like how to apply to shows or build frames, and overall build a sense of community.

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College) – Right now in our club we are getting ready for the second part of our Hunger Drive. This is just an event where we collect canned goods and donate them to second Harvest Food Bank. All the canned goods that we collect will be distributed back into our local food banks. Our club is also preparing for our state/summer conventions with the NCASC. Finally, we recently visited Victory Junction. Victory Junction is a camp for children with chronic illnesses and it is all free of charge to their parents. When we visited the camp, we helped take care of the horses, cleaned the cabins, and toured the grounds over the course of this week will be raising money to send to the camp.

Cosmetology – The Cosmetology club now meets every Wednesday at 4:00pm West Ave in room 221. Cosmetology club is still looking to elect some new officers for the Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relations positions. Cosmetology club will be voting next meeting on doing a toiletries and/or summer clothing for the Orphanage. Cosmetology club will also be voting on donut purchases.

L.I.F.T. – Absent- No report

M.I.S.T.E.R. – The M.I.S.T.E.R Club has planned an event on South Campus to help with Blood Drive being led by Ms. Shemeda Coats.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) – PBL is had a central region kick off meeting Thursday, February 8. The actual kickoff event will be Thursday February 15, 2018. There is nothing else to report currently.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) – PTK is excited about our next service project in February where we will be going to Jeff Gordons’ children hospital to read Dr. Seuss books to children. We will also be having our spring induction on April 3 to celebrate our new members.

Prism- Prism Club will be having their next meeting in the third week of February. PRISM is also working on an upcoming club event #ForTheCulture. With SGA Points of Information officer (South) Jacob Hernandez. We are also focusing on our campus/community service project.

Radiography- The Radiography club had a meeting this morning to gather paperwork for travel grants. Expected to turn in this week. Next meeting will be March 13, 2018.

RCEC – The RCEC club is currently working on our annual pasta for pennies event to raise awareness of Leukemia and Lymphoma. RCEC has also finished ordering our spirit gear; we are expecting delivering within the next few weeks. We are also still planning our Field day event.

Skills USA – We talked about the SkillsUSA conference in April and June and how to pay for those that we would like to attend.

Student Nursing Association (SNA) – No report

Veterans Club – The Veterans Club meeting was held on January 26 at 1:00 pm. The Vet club was planning a Thank a VET” day on February 27 from 8:00 am -11:00 am. The Vet Club voted on purchasing a banner that was worth $100, to help with Vets publicity. The Vet Club voted on utilizing marketing and recruitment to help make and design our banner and event flyers. Next meeting is February 9, 2018. The Vet Club voted in Epiphany L Winslow as Public Information Officer and Johanna Y Santos Garcia as their Senator.

Welding – Absent- No report

W.O.W. – The W.O.W. club discussed some important things concerning our upcoming events. We discussed about our community service with Habitat for Humanity. Ms. Davis express that we should check dates on Navsync more frequently and communicate with other club members.
