South Campus Land Purchases
8.7 acres were recently purchased near South Campus. This land is across the street and will be used to for the expansion of the South Campus.

Strategic Meeting with Board of Trustees’ member
The board of Trustees’ recently met with representative form the North Carolina senate to advocate and review legislative priorities for the legislative delegation.

Automotive Light-Duty Diesel Technology
Effective Fall 2018 Automotive Light-Duty Diesel Technology diploma program will be available at Cabarrus Business and Technology.

Central Division Meeting
In the month of February, myself and five others attended the N4CSGA meeting to represent Rowan- Cabarrus as one of the 58 community colleges advocating for community colleges at a state level.
EMS Award
Recognize the EMS award given to Roger McDaniel since we have one of the largest EMS services in the state.

Barb Collins
Now, I would like to introduce Barb Collins to the front and she will be giving us an update/education on the online ordering for textbooks.

Relay for Life
I, Shakur Thomas, from Student Government Association make a motion that we amend the previously made motion to donate $1,000 to relay for life by changing the amount to 500 dollars instead of 1000 dollars. (Motion passed)

Club Reports:

AHR Chillers
1) Chillers Club Executive Committee met on Wednesday, 07 February for our monthly meeting which addressed upcoming Spring semester lottery and non-lottery events. We also held Chillers Club student meetings during the week of Monday, 12 February through Friday, 16 February.
2) Two proposals were approved by Chillers Club members for use of student Club funds:
a. Students approved by simple majority vote to spend up to $500 on food and food service products to use for our Annual Chillers Spring Smokeout BBQ Fundraiser to be held on Thursday, 26 April at CBTC (after approval of Fundraiser Request from Student Life). Items will be purchased using Purchase Order and use of P-card with SGA Student Activities Coordinator or Director presence.
b. Students approved by simple majority vote to spend up to a total of $1050 for up to
15 student SkillsUSA Memberships at $14 each ($210) and 15 student NC
SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference Registrations at $60 each ($840).
3) Chillers Club completed one lottery event in February. Blood Drive at CBTC was completed successfully on Wednesday, 14 February from 9am-1:30pm.
4) Chillers Club students also participated in two other events during February:
a. Students practiced with GTCC HVACR students in a SkillsUSA HVACR Practice
Contest on Friday, 9 February. They were treated to breakfast and lunch.
b. Students also attended an ASHRAE Student Chapter Monthly Meeting and Training
Lecture on Wednesday, 21 February at CBTC. The guest speaker was Bryant
Cornett from United Mechanical of Charlotte.
5) Encouraged student participation and volunteering and making suggestions.

Art Club – Absent – No report

CKEC (Cabarrus/Kannapolis Early College) – CKEC club is now in the process of finishing up our Carolina Student Hunger Drive. This is a donation drive where we collect money and canned good for our community. We are also getting ready for our state convention this weekend. This is basically an event where we meet with other student councils and learn ways to improve our council, present our Honors Council Portfolio, and team building. This event will be extremely helpful with strengthening our student council. Finally, we are planning our luau for our school to induct our new freshman class.

Cosmetology – Absent – No report

L.I.F.T. – L.I.F.T. club has regrouped and come together to make some important decisions regarding our next service projects and the ways we plan to grow our club. From deciding to purchase L.I.F.T. club T-shirts, to making plans to serve the campus club on April 2nd, during RCCC registration, the club is working to grow and spread a positive message across the campus. We met on March 2, 2018, where we decided to purchase T-shirts, set up a table with a positive message during registration, purchase “I am second” bracelets, and more.

M.I.S.T.E.R. – The M.I.S.T.E.R club will be at a Success Initiative Conference form March 25th through 27th. The conference is to help minority males adjust in their education and connect with resources to become successful. Also the M.I.S.T.E.R. club continues to voluntary Isenberg Elementary School. Buddy programs planned for once a month on Friday.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) – PBL will be attending an East Rowan High School FBLA meeting today to assist them in preparing for their State Leadership Conference next week. Our monthly meeting will be Thursday March 15th, where we will be preparing for our State Leadership Conference which is April 5th through 7th in Charlotte, NC.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) – Absent – No report

P.R.I.S.M. – The P.R.I.S.M. club is working on a campus event #FortheCulture. We also have a new advisor Mrs. Lorie Robson form the (LRC). As of right now we owe trying to get club shirts. As well as coordinating our next meeting.

Radiography- The Radiography club has been preparing to go to Ashville for a conference to learn more about our Health Field. We also completed four articles for the RCCC journal.

RCEC – The RCEC club has prepared for an annual field day with patching new event ideas. RCEC has been expending our spirit gear and will began distribution shortly after arrival.

Skills USA – Absent – No report

Student Nursing Association (SNA) – No report

Veterans Club – The Veterans club last meeting, February 9, 2018, we focused on the “Thank a vet” breakfast which took place on February 27, 2018. The Veterans Club also participated with the cooking contest lottery event. Our next meeting is March 23, 2018.
