President’s Report
TRIO – Misty Moler, Director of Wellness Center, rescheduled to December.
On September 16th, I attended an N4CSGA leadership development program for statewide SGA officers. Several schools were in attendance, and Covid19’s effect on-campus activities, student engagement, and providing services necessary for students’ success.
On Monday, September 28th, I attended the board of trustees meeting. An enrollment update was presented. Rowan-Cabarrus continues to close the enrollment gap and is performing better than other colleges across the state. Although the FTE’s are down 4%, headcount is down less than .18%, which is very low.

An update on the spring semester was given. Due to Covid19 and restrictions, the college has decided to ensure students’ safety by replicating falls. The spring semester will be 90% online.
The college received the TRIO Grant, and more information on how this will benefit students will be provided in the November meeting by the director of the TRIO Grant.

The college has a new app called OneNav. It acts as a single sign-in for all the websites you need to access, like Blackboard, WebAdvisor, etc., making logging easier.

RCCC library got a 10,000 dollar grant to give mobile hotspots to students in need of the internet. Students in need, please complete the COVID form online.

The Federal CARES-Act monies provide direct assistance to students. Qualifying students will receive $250 at the end of October.

Due to the continued restrictions of COVID19, the postponed May 2020 graduation ceremony will be held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on December 18. Qualifying students will receive information through their email.

Due to COVID19 and the restrictions still in place, student leaders must sign a pledge not to meet with their clubs off-campus. After signing the pledge, please submit it to your club liaison.

Club Reports

A.C.E. Technologies
ACE Tech Club Senator attended September SGA Business Mtg on Tuesday, 01 September. ACE Tech Club Executive CMT members met in-person on Thursday, Sept 10, for the meeting. ACE Tech Club submitted Student Health 101 Articles for September. ACE Tech Club conducted student meetings week of 9/14 of 9/14 9/19. THE next ACE Tech Club Executive Committee meeting is October 8th, 2020, at 5 pm. Next ACE Tech Club student meetings will be held the week of October 19-24. ACE Tech Club Plan for 2020-2021: Update: SkillsUSA NC informed us that the 2021 NC State. SkillsUSA Conference will be planned for both virtual and live in-person events. We will be meeting with the state office in late October on how best to proceed. No word on how the National Conference and Competitions will be done in Atlanta.

CKEC Early College
During October, CKEC’s Student Council began planning social events to connect with our student body. We invited a guest speaker, Carlos Ojeda Jr., to give a motivational talk on October 16th to students of all grade levels via Zoom. In addition to this, we began planning a service project: a Coat Drive in partnership with local Sweet Frog locations. The coat drive began October 19th, and collection bins were left in the Sweet Frog locations into November. We also began advertising a special election to fill executive board member positions left vacant in our most recent annual election. Towards the end of October, we held a movie night with seasonal movies (October 30th) and a costume contest (October 26th-28th) that our student body really enjoyed.
MSLA
MSLA is planning and discussing our second event, KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS, from October 15th. The event will have presentations from legal aid and history with social injustice. We will be doing our Community Service Project with Souls to the Poles and helping with voter registration.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)
Meeting called to order: 7:30 PM.
Meeting attended by 8 Members, 2 Advisors, and 1 Guest.
Guest speaker: Ashley Lay of Ashley Lay Reality. The topic of discussion How COVID has changed the way she conducts her business. She told about how terrifying it was in March when her business was solely a face-to-face business. She explained how they had to learn to do virtual open houses on Zoom, how to best talk about, and described all the details that the purchaser would normally see with their own eyes with a walkthrough. How she sold some houses sight unseen. Mrs. Lay says, “You can’t live in fear to be a successful entrepreneur.” She discussed, “What’s coming next? And How to move forward.” How you can accept to meet your goals or not. How she had no choice but to wait it out. Got to adapt or not survive. She answered questions for members.
Do you feel BOLD prepared you guys for this moment? – Yes, It was an intense training class for 7 hours for 7 weeks. Hardcore Leadership Development. What suggestions would you have for those looking to make a job change or start a career during these unprecedented times regarding researching the companies to work for? “Read everything about the companies. Find a mentor in your career. She suggested five mentors. Club dues mail to North Campus. Fall Leadership Development Conference November 13, 2020. Fundraising suggestions: Yankee Candles Campus Service Project Ideas were discussed. Ecards to Teachers and Staff. Community Service Project ideas were discussed. St. Jude’s Hospital, Cards to residents of nursing homes. Next meeting November 19, 2020

Radiography
Rad-Club class of 2021 here at RCCC. We are also the lead for the awareness event on the 29th of this month at RCCC. We will be having four students from the radiology program volunteering during our club lottery event. We will complete our campus service project working on the College Drive Through Open House on October 28th & 29th. Any information you could provide would be appreciated. We look forward to putting on a wonderful event, and I am willing to do whatever is needed to make this year great.
