KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Small business owners, prospective owners and entrepreneurs from across the region are invited to attend a special event Tuesday, May 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kannapolis City Hall in recognition of National Small Business Week.

The Small Business Success Forum will bring together those interested in small business ownership for a day of learning, discussions, and networking. After a welcome by Kannapolis Mayor Darrell Hinnant, attendees will have the opportunity to choose workshops on topics such as managing workflow, social media trends, funding options, capturing the international market, hiring, defining their uniqueness, and the power of storytelling.

“We want to provide an environment where small business owners and those wanting to start a business can exchange ideas, share challenges as well as solutions, and recharge,” said Barbara Hall, director of the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Small Business Center. “We’ll have experts on hand who can answer questions about how to take business ideas to the next level. We also want to celebrate the time, effort and creativity small business owners and entrepreneurs invest in our communities.”

Luncheon speaker Bruce Maxwell will share his expertise on business leadership and culture. Maxwell, an entrepreneur and investor, specializes in starting and financing new ventures. He has helped launch more than 100 companies and made over 650 pitches to venture capital firms to raise more than $78 million.

Representatives from business assistance organizations will be on hand to answer questions. Attendees will be able to consult with the Small Business Center Network, the Small Business and Technology Development Center, the N.C. Department of Revenue, the Centralina Workforce Development Board, the Internal Revenue Service, the Small Business Association, the Business Expansion Funding Corporation, the Carolina Small Business Development Fund and others.

The $15 registration includes a buffet lunch and all event sessions. Register online at www.rccc.edu/sbc. The registration deadline is April 23.
