SALISBURY, N.C. – Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has appointed Angie Brown, Page Castrodale, Austin Shrewsbury and James Taylor to the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Foundation’s Board of Directors. Their backgrounds span business leadership, workforce development, community service and economic growth, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to supporting students across Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

Angie Brown recently retired as General Manager of Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, where she spent more than two decades in leadership roles across multiple lodge locations nationwide. She has lived in Cabarrus County for more than eleven years and has been a strong supporter of Rowan-Cabarrus, sponsoring the Foundation’s annual golf tournament and contributing to a named scholarship. Brown is also familiar with the College’s workforce development efforts, as many of her employees have participated in Continuing Education programs and courses. Her service with the Cabarrus Chamber and other community organizations strengthens her longstanding ties to the region.

Page Castrodale is the Senior Director of Government Affairs for North and South Carolina at Eli Lilly, leading legislative strategy, engaging community stakeholders and telling the story of Lilly’s impact in the region. Before joining Lilly, she was the Executive Director of the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation, driving recruitment and expansion efforts that resulted in over $3 billion in new investments. Notable projects include NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports, Red Bull, Ball, and Eli Lilly. These successes have earned her recognition as a Power 100 and 40 Under 40 leader by the Charlotte Business Journal, and she was honored as the 2024 Economic Developer of the Year by the North Carolina Economic Development Association. A proud North Carolina native, Page graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. She lives in Concord, NC, with her husband and their four children.

Austin Shrewsbury is the shop manager for Martin Marietta’s Salisbury facility, where he oversees operations at the company’s crusher repair and remanufacture shop. He has more than a decade of experience in maintenance planning and equipment operations within the mining and minerals industry. Shrewsbury earned his Bachelor of Science in Mining and Minerals Engineering from Virginia Tech and is committed to supporting educational and career pathways that connect students to high-demand technical fields. He also provides leadership for Martin Marietta’s involvement in the Rowan-Cabarrus Industrial Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.

James Taylor retired after a 42-year career with Carolina Farm Credit. He served as Branch Manager of the Statesville Boulevard office for nearly fifteen years and later served as the Senior Vice President of the Commercial Loan department. He has been deeply involved in community service for decades, including leadership roles with the Woodleaf Civitan Club, Rowan Economic Council and Salisbury Lions Club. Taylor has also contributed to local education, athletics and agricultural organizations and has coordinated an inclusive annual “World Series” softball event for individuals with physical and mental challenges for more than 15 years. His work reflects a sustained commitment to community involvement and support.

The Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation raises and manages funds that support scholarships, emergency assistance and strategic priorities that help students stay on track and complete their educational goals. In 2024, the Foundation provided $475,000 in scholarships and emergency aid to more than 660 students and funded 46 Student Impact Grants that advance innovative teaching and learning. With more than $4.6 million in assets and nearly 70 endowed scholarships, the Foundation provides lasting support for generations of learners. Through the generosity of individuals, businesses, and community partners, the Foundation empowers students to achieve personal success and strengthens the region’s workforce and economic vitality. Board members are key in developing partnerships and encouraging community investment in the College’s mission.
