SALISBURY, N.C. – The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Marketing and Communications department has once again earned national recognition by winning ten awards in the 40th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, the largest and oldest educational advertising awards competition in the country. Competing against more than 2,000 entries from over 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools across all 50 states and several foreign countries, the College earned awards in every category in which it submitted work.
The award-winning work represents a collaborative effort by the College’s Marketing and Communications team, whose projects support student engagement, institutional visibility and community outreach. The team includes Director of Marketing and Communications Aaron Tallman, Assistant Director Carter Wingfield, Senior Graphic Designer Allison Robinson, Communications Specialist Tabitha Harry, Digital Media Specialist Jamie Bruckmann and work-study student intern Blake Barrier, with appreciation also extended to former Chief Officer of Governance, Advancement and Community Relations Sarah Devlin for her leadership during the development of these projects. The team’s creative and strategic contributions continue to enhance the College’s brand and connection with its audiences.
“Our Marketing and Communications team continues to deliver work that is both creative and impactful,” said Rowan-Cabarrus President Dr. Carol S. Spalding. “Their efforts help tell the College’s story, highlight student achievement and connect our community to the opportunities available here. This national recognition affirms the high standard they bring to every project.”
Rowan-Cabarrus captured six gold awards this year. The awards included recognition of the College’s 2024 College Commercial, the 2023 Annual Report, the Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation Newsletter and a 60th Anniversary timeline installation with an augmented reality component. The team was also honored for the full “Your Path to Success” recruitment campaign, a multi-platform initiative designed to guide prospective students through the enrollment process with clear messaging, digital tools and personalized support.
In addition, Rowan-Cabarrus won four silver awards for a video produced in collaboration with Market Street Studios to promote the 2024 Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation’s scholarships for students, promotional materials for the College’s Fall Fest Live event, a collection of student club logo designs and the Student Excellence Award Finalists Facebook campaign.
“Each piece we create is designed to inspire both potential and current students and strengthen the College’s connection with the communities we serve,” said Director of Marketing and Communications Aaron Tallman. “These awards celebrate not just creative excellence, but the passion and collaboration our team brings to helping students feel seen, supported and inspired.”
The Educational Advertising Awards are judged by a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors and marketing and advertising professionals. Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s consistent success in this competition highlights the exceptional talent and commitment of its Marketing and Communications team.
