SALISBURY, N.C. – Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is expanding its skilled trades offerings with the launch of a new Plumbing Certificate beginning in Fall 2026. This certificate will prepare students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to enter the plumbing industry. Students will build foundational skills that prepare them for entry-level opportunities in the field while gaining hands-on experience using common tools, materials and techniques used in modern plumbing.
Designed to be completed in one year, this certificate includes 17 semester hour credits and uses a combination of classroom instruction and applied learning. Coursework will cover key areas of the trade and provide students with a well-rounded foundation for success. Courses in the program include Modern Plumbing A and B, Blueprint Reading for Construction, OSHA 30-Hour Construction, and Plumbing Diagrams. Instruction will take place at the Cabarrus Business and Technology Center in Concord, offering students access to industry-relevant training in a hands-on learning environment.
“The launch of our Plumbing Certificate reflects our continued investment in hands-on training that supports essential industries,” said Rowan-Cabarrus President Dr. Carol S. Spalding. “Skilled trades like plumbing play a critical role in our communities, and this certificate prepares students to enter the field with confidence.”
Graduates of the program will be prepared to pursue employment in residential, commercial and industrial plumbing settings, where demand for skilled trades professionals continues to grow. The program supports career pathways that offer competitive pay, opportunities for advancement and long-term job stability.
