What is a Continuing Education Scholarship?

This competitive scholarship is designed to provide assistance to individuals requiring an employment-related certification. Scholarship awards are given for short-term training within the Rowan-Cabarrus Continuing Education department that coincides with an applicant’s identified employment goal. Each recipient must assure willingness to meet or exceed expectations by:

• Attending every class session as scheduled
• Participating fully and taking responsibility for learning
• Successfully completing the course and any required testing for certifications
• Maintaining contact with Scholarship Committee during class and throughout a follow-up period

Who is qualified to receive the scholarship?

Individuals needing training for an employment goal and have a recognized need for funding assistance are encouraged to apply. There are various scholarships available and there are eligibility requirements for each. The R3 Team will help you in applying for the best scholarship opportunity.

How much will the scholarship fund?

Scholarships award amounts are based on funding availability.

What is the timeline for the scholarship?

After you submit the Continuing Education Scholarship Request Form, you will receive an email from R3 r3@rccc.edu with follow-up instructions on meeting with your R3 Career Specialist to assist you with completing the full application.

Once the full scholarship application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the CCE Scholarship Committee.

The Scholarship Committee / R3 Career Services Team meets on Wednesdays to review application requests and final submissions.

Full applications received by 11:59 p.m. on the Tuesdays prior to the Wednesday meeting will be reviewed in the Wednesday session.

What is my next step?

Step 1: Complete the Scholarship Application Request Form.

Step 2: Email notification is sent following your request form review with your assigned R3 Career Specialist and an appointment for the Scholarship Orientation.

Step 3: Attend the Scholarship Orientation and receive the full application.

Step 4: The Scholarship Committee / R3 Career Services Team will review your submitted full application.
