All interviews have a set of structured commonality: questioning for quality information, detecting deception and gaining-compliance, However, the interviews of suspected sexual abuse of children (just as do other specific focused interviews, i.e.; fraud) brings its own set of sub-criteria. Understanding the use of empathy and question type within the conduct of these interview settings can positively influence the interview outcome.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this training the participant will be able to:
- Describe the applicability of the utilization of empathy within the conduct of the interview;
- Delineate the application of differing questioning types within the conduct of the interview;
- Given a video/transcript of a related interview, conduct a critique of the questioning and empathy applications and provide a critique for interview enhancement.
