With the extreme risks involved in SWAT/SRT operations, it is easy to concentrate our training on operational concerns to ensure technical skill proficiency. Equally important is the need to train to limit and mitigate the exposure to civil liability for SWAT/SRT operators, supervisors, and agency administrators. Case law will be examined and discussed in detail to provide the participants with the necessary information to critically assess themselves, their policies, and their operations with the end goal of providing the highest level of professional tactical operational effectiveness while simultaneously reducing the likelihood of an allegation of civil wrong-doing.
