Course Description:

More and more the workplace is recognizing the need to provide training to new leaders or potential leaders for their new role.  Many leaders are not in official leadership positions but lead teams, projects, community organizations and the like.   While management theory is an important learning tool, it often leaves the new supervisor or manager wondering “how” to make application.  Theory has its role for the new manager or leader but the “why” is not very important when one wants to know “how” to be successful.  This training applies management theory and practice in a common sense practical approach, rather than a theoretical one.  It is designed toward answering the “how” question and provides useful information for effectively supervising and managing staff. It is specifically for those new or experienced leaders who are more concerned with knowing what will work to make them a “good” manager or supervisor, rather than one that understands the psychology of why it works.

Who should Attend

This training is appropriate for potential, new or experienced supervisors with a desire to be a successful leader of subordinate staff in a criminal justice or public safety agency.
