Course Description:  Planning for a high-stakes is always essential.  In the traditional planning process, the interviewer considers a series of topical elements and develops a plan accordingly.  In this manner the interviewer is “looking” into the future at the conduct of the interview.  In conducting an interview premortem, the interviewer employs a strategy involving “going into the future” and looking back at the conduct of the interview in order to develop a significantly more effective, strategic plan.  Participants should have previously completed a foundational interviewing class.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this training the participant will be able to:

• Identify the strategy for conducting an interview premortem;
• Describe how to combine traditional interview planning and an interview premortem;
• Given the facts of a case, diagram, list and present an interview premortem

Evaluation Procedures:  Student will be completing practical exercise assignments, content assessments and participating in practical exercises that will be evaluated throughout the session. The student must successfully complete all assignments and practical exercises to receive a satisfactory grade.
