Executing Search Warrants

Course Description: Description: Law enforcement has seen a dramatic shift in the public’s attitude towards law enforcement, as well as a shift in the attitude towards drugs in general. This course discusses the shift in society’s view of law enforcement and drugs in general, discusses the changes in some departments administrative view on search warrants and investigating drug cases, and the need to protect yourself and the citizens, while executing search warrants. Officers are taking an inherent risk to themselves each time they write and/or execute a search warrant. Officers should be aware and keep in mind the looming changes from the Police Reform Act, changes in legislation in regards to search warrants and the possible changes in qualified immunity. This course will instruct officers on the importance to write complete and successful search warrants. This course will examine contributing factors that has led to law enforcement injuries and deaths during the execution of search warrants.
